
The fourth edition of Coming Up!, organised by SIE, Spain is Excellence, consolidates Spain as a world reference in tourism.
The past 15 Julythe Weapons Room of the Templars' Castle in Ponferrada was the setting for a key meeting for tourism in Las Médulas, recently recognised with the SIE seal as a destination of tourism excellence. The event brought together some thirty professionals from the sector and the media from El Bierzo, who were able to learn about the strategic plan which will guide the development of the destination until 2025.

The destination recorded an increase in the number of visitors, with more than 95,000 served at the Reception Centre in the first eleven months of 2024. However, only one 7,95% corresponds to international tourists.This represents an opportunity to attract new markets, in particular by taking advantage of the Ponferrada connectivity.
The plan also includes the development of tourism products related to active tourism, enogastronomy and culturein addition to the implementation of digital tools for promotion and marketing of the destination. Work is also being carried out on the heritage and nature conservationwith a group of experts and a climate and forestry risk prevention plan.
The event in Ponferrada also served to announce upcoming promotional actions in collaboration with SIE, such as presstrips, fam trips and investor presentationswhich will strengthen the destination's presence in national and international markets.
