Members of SIE (Spain Is Excellence) discover the world of Carmen Laffón at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum
The members of SIE, Spain Is Excellence took part in a guided tour of the exhibition Carmen Laffón. Variations, organised in the National Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza, a member of SIE, Spain Is Excellence . The event gave attendees the chance to delve into the creative world of one of the most influential figures in contemporary Spanish art through an exhibition spanning more than five decades of her career.
The exhibition brings together a wide selection of paintings, drawings and sculptures that reflect the artistic development of Carmen Laffón (1934–2021) and his unique way of interpreting reality. The exhibition focuses on some of the most representative themes in his work, such as the landscapes of the Guadalquivir marshes, the Bonanza salt flats, still lifes and everyday objects, offering an intimate perspective deeply intertwined with light, time and nature.
During the visit, the members had the opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into the artist’s creative process and to understand the sensibility that characterises a body of work renowned for its ability to transform seemingly simple scenes into compositions of great poetic power. The exhibition also highlights the ongoing dialogue between tradition and modernity that has defined Laffón’s career and established her as one of the leading figures in Spanish figurative art.
The attendees were accompanied by Maribel Hipólito, Director of Strategic Partnerships at SIE, Spain Is Excellence, who represented the association during this cultural experience.
