Madrid, 23 May- The Spain-Korea Chamber of Commerce and Spain Is Excellence organised a forum entitled "Spain's Liquid Gold: Exploring Olive Oil with Korea". This event aimed to delve deeper into the commercialisation of Spanish olive oil and its attractiveness to the Korean market. The forum was opened by Jorge Salaverry, Secretary General of the Spain-Korea Chamber of Commerce, and moderated by Ana Alonso, CEO of SIE, Spain Is Excellence.
The forum was attended by leading professionals from the sector, who shared their experience and knowledge of the olive oil industry and the opportunities offered by the Korean market.
Speakers included:
- Salomé Martinez Aparicio, Deputy Director of Food Industry at ICEX.
- Ana Fernandez Zamora, Director of Employment, Promotion and Tourism at the Diputación de Jaén.
- Rafael Pico, Director of ASOLIVA
- Juan Pablo Postigo, Board Member of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
- Josep Palau, Export Manager of Aceites Conde de Benalúa.
The forum revealed that Spain is the leading country in olive oil marketing, production and territory. Even so, there is still room for growth compared to other fats. We also learned about the olive oil tourism project in Jaén and its importance for tourism and the characteristics of the Korean consumer, who places importance on health and is interested in innovative products.
In summary, the need to unite the agents involved in the oil market and to improve promotion with a homogeneous message was highlighted.
The event concluded with a tasting of Jaén Selección 2024 Extra Virgin Olive Oils, offering attendees the opportunity to experience the quality and diversity of olive oils from this region.
The Spain-Korea Chamber of Commerce and Spain Is Excellence thank all participants and attendees for their support and collaboration in this event, which strengthens commercial ties between Spain and Korea, and promotes Spanish olive oil in international markets.
